Events
First off, a small update to the finish flag - it's now possible to have custom transition for flags. That way you could have smooth default transitions between levels, but a special transition if you enter a different area.
The bigger update is a new object that was created - the event trigger.
It means you can create an area which will execute a certain function once it is touched. That object is indefinetely expandable and i will continue working on it, but these are the events that are already created:
Here some examples what you can do with them:
- Screenshake is pretty obvious (the sprite of the event trigger can also be hidden in the tool):
You can change the background image and color, with a transition. You can have a partly transparent background f.e. and change the sky from one color to another.
or change the color every time the player collects a coin
You can also show static foreground images, and add an animation. F.e. you could slide in a map or some hint on where the player should go.
or combine it with a screenshake for a cheezy jumpscare :P
Some other stuff like changing music or playing a certain sound are possible too, but obviously not showable in a GIF.
